Make index file and category

Introduction

After clicking 'Make overview link' or 'Make iCal link' (with the option '1 link per resource') or Generate app a window pops up with a list of permalinks.
Beneath the list are several fields, checkboxes and buttons which are described here.

  • You can generate a CSV index file.
  • You can generate an HTML index file.
  • You can generate a category for the smartphone app.

Make spreadsheet index file with "Download CSV" button

If you have clicked the "1 link per resource" box to make a permalink for each individual resource then the window containing the permalinks displays a Download CSV button.

  • Click the 'Download CSV link' button to export the permalinks to a file in csv format.

  • A window pops up showing you the csv download file, e.g. export(4).csv.
  • Open the spreadsheet file and you see permalinks listed per row.

Make HTML index file/category with save button

Below the list of permalinks you see some fields, checkboxes and buttons which you can use to control further handling of the index file.

Index file parameters

  • Name: name of the file or category
  • Icon URL: contains the URL of an icon that will be included beside the category.
  • Description: additional information about the items in the index/category.
  • Generate overview: tick this checkbox for the content of the index file to directly appear in your browser.
  • Search format: tick this checkbox if you prefer an html with a search function rather than a table containing all the permalinks.
The user can type in the first few characters of a name and then press enter to retrieve the respective timetable.
  • Actualize during night job: tick this checkbox if you want the Webber to update the index file and its respective permalinks each night.
The list of permalinks will always correspond to the resources you have in 'My Selection'.
  • Ranking: enter the position of this category in the list of categories.

Warning Tip: Ranking is only visible for an app category, for a smartphone for example.

If serveral categories get the same ranking then the order in the list of categories is arbitrary.

Warning Warning: Night job generation of index files and permalinks is intended to keep the timetable website of your organisation up-to-date.

Your application manager is probably required to configure the auto-update capability in the WebView admin module.

Warning Warning: The Name field is compulsory.

Save button

After entering all necessary details click the 'Save' button.

  • The index file is also saved on the Webber server.
  • Meta data on the index/category is kept in de Webber database.
  • In the case of app-permalinks the database category is used to generate the app categories.

HTML alfanumeric table

Here is an example of an HTMl index file generated after clicking the Save button.
The resources are sorted per column in alfanumerical order and empty columns are not displayed.

HTML search

The user has entered 'a' in the search field.

All items starting with letter 'a' or 'A' are displayed.

Warning Tip: saving the file is useful when managing a timetable website server.

The location of the file depends on the configuration made by your administrator.

Below you see an example of a category list on a smartphone.

Warning Tip: De categories appear in alfanumeric order.

When a user clicks on a category all the permalinks of that category appear in alfanumeric order.
The description of the category is visible at the top.
